The Cut Up Boys are back with a vengeance; reviving the coolest Old Skool Smashes for a new generation with the release of Mash Up Mix Old Skool
Matt Brookes and Nick Barnes AKA The Cut Up Boys need little introduction. Bournemouth born and bred - this dance duo worked they're way up through their radio one rankings. Cementing their title as masters of the marathon remix, The Cut Up Boys, have produced a series of Mash Up Mix compilations, all of which have enjoyed massive chart success.
The latest instalment of the Mash Up collection, Mash Up Old Mix Skool, is released by Ministry of Sound August 25th 2008. Mash Up Mix Old Skool unleashes hits from the late 80's through to the mid 90's on a new generation. This release reconnects the children of house with all of its best bits but also educates the noughties generation on the hits that shaped Old Skool dance.
CD 1 is a relentless medley of solid Old Skool house, taking you back through Robyn S ‘Show Me Love' mixed with Jinny ‘Keep Warm' and Club Junkies ft Kid House ‘Two can play that game' vs Last Rhythm. Nomad's classic ‘Devotion' also gets mashed alongside FPI Projects ‘Rich In Paradise.' Of course NO monster Mash, (especially one of the Old School variety) would be complete without D.O.N.S ‘Pump Up The Jam' vs Jaydee ‘Plastic Dreams' or Liquid ‘Sweet Harmony' with Loletta Holloway's ‘Love Sensation' and... (this one needs no remix at all) Happy Clappers ‘I believe.'
The second instalment, CD 2, delivers the best of the tranceier side of Old Skool mixing trios like DJ Phantasia's ‘Inner Light' and Jam and Spoon's ‘Stella' with ‘Forgetta's ‘Music Is Movin.' Rave's also brought back (whistle's at the ready) by way of Snap ‘Rhythm Is A Dancer' vs Cubic 22 ‘Night In Motion' and The Prodigy ‘Outta Space' vs 49ers ‘Move Your Feet' and Altem-8's ‘ Activ-8'. Fear not, what kind of blast from the past would be if it didn't reflect on all that was Old Skool Garage? Ratpack's ‘Searchin' For My Rizzla' and Smart E's ‘Sesame's Treat' vs DJ Pied Piper ‘Do You really Like It' are all inclusive.
Nick from the Cut Up Boys comments "The stars really align for us on Mash Up Mix Old Skool. Our skills as mash up maniacs and our specialist knowledge on this decade of music gel to make a fantastic album"
Matt Brookes adds "Its great to be able to make a CD which introduces our favourite era of music to a whole new generation. We've worked Old Skool anthems in with underground classics to shake up an amazing era of music"
